JIO INTRODUCES NEW FEATURE

Reliance Jio’s redesigned made-in-India-made browser JioPages has introduced the latest feature — Secure Mode — which is designed to protect internet users from tracking.

JioPages was the very first Indian browser to introduce an inbuilt feature that guarantees online privacy by preventing trackers from following the web user as they browse online.

With the introduction of “Secure Mode and ‘Secure Mode,’ JioPages is the most popular web browser of Indian users looking for a secure browsing experience as well as speedier and more customizable browsing.

The Secure Mode within JioPages’ Secure Mode JioPages Web browser centered on providing a more secure browsing experience and the online security for its users by stopping any possible tracking mechanism including fingerprinting, cookies web beacons, referrer headers unwelcome advertising or tracking sources, etc.

“JioPages web browser is focused at ensuring a safer browsing experience &online privacy of its users by blocking every possible tracking mechanism such as cookies, fingerprinting, web beacons, referrer header, unwanted advertising, tracking resources etc,” the statement by the company read.

JioPages has been built using the Chromium Blink engine that is advertised as having faster pages. The Jio browser is compatible with eight Indian languages: Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Gujarati, Telegu, Malayalam, Kannada and Bengali.

The Secure Mode within JioPages stops all trackers from acquiring any information related to the user.

JioPages also recommends activating its Adblocker as well as Secure Mode (both are activated with a single click in the application). The user’s information is not shared anywhere and they won’t see ads when they browse.

The company claimed that Secure Mode will hide websites that request consent to track, meaning that the users do not be required to view them each when they visit the site. In default, it will block third-party trackers, but not first-party trackers which are specific to the website that users visit, and are essential to the user experience.

JioPages Secure Mode also stops third party trackers and cookies from sharing or collecting any data about their users.

To use Secure Mode on mobile, users have to install JioPages through the Play Store. On the the home screen, users need to click on the hamburger menu’ located in the lower right corner. Click on Secure Mode and further click OK in the Secure Mode pop-up.
